2020 Subaru Outback

2020 Subaru Outback

The all-new 2020 Subaru Outback is stylish, capable, comfortable, and even better than ever!  You can expect a completely redesigned interior, impressive versatility, luxurious comfort, and the capability to go anywhere you want to go.   The sixth generation Outback is built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP).  It was developed using the extensive technological advancements innovated by Subaru through the years.  The aim is to provide a safe and fun driving experience no matter the road or weather conditions.   The SGP provides many chassis advancements leading to higher strength while also having lighter weight, higher rigidity, and more responsive steering.  This SUV is standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.

Trim Levels

Choose from seven distinct trim levels to find the ultimate Outback for your driving experience.  The many options mean you can find the trim with the features that mean the most to you.  Trim levels include the base, Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT, and Touring XT.  The starting MSRP of the base trim is an affordable $26,645 with pricing ranging up to a MSRP of $39,695 for the feature-filled Touring XT trim level.

Performance

The 2020 Subaru Outback has the ultimate combination of a comfortable car-like ride and the capability provided by a SUV with dependable AWD.  The lineup offers two engine options.  Most trim levels come with the efficient 2.5-liter 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder.  You can expect an estimated 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway from this engine with 182-hp and 176 lb-ft of torque.  The Onyx Edition, Limited XT, and Touring XT trim levels have a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that produces 260-hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.  This edition has an estimated fuel efficiency of 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

No matter which engine is equipped on your Outback, it will come with the Lineartronic CVT that includes an 8-speed manual mode and steering wheel paddle shifters.  This engine and transmission combination will provide great towing capability too.  The 2.5-liter engine offers a maximum 2700 lb. towing capacity, while the 2.4-liter turbo provides up to 3500 lb. towing capacity.  The 8.7-inch ground clearance exceeds that of many SUVs without affecting the step-in height for driver and passengers.  In addition to the Symmetrical AWD system, the Outback comes with other excellent systems such as Vehicle Dynamics Control, Hill Descent Control, and Active Torque Vectoring.

Safety

The 2020 Subaru Outback has a wide variety of safety and driver-assistance features.  The standard Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology includes innovative Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering.  This system can assist with steering when it senses the vehicle has veered into another lane.  The DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System uses an infrared camera paired with facial recognition technology to detect signs of driver fatigue or even distraction.  It can then provide an audio and visual warning to the driver.  Other available technologies include Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, EyeSight Assist Monitor with head-up display, Front View Monitor, LED Steering Responsive Headlamps, and Reverse Automatic Braking.

Comfort and Technology

Driver-assistance features aren't the only amazing aspects of the 2020 Subaru Outback.  The SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia system provides excellent entertainment options.  Starting with the Premium trim level, this system has an 11.6-inch touchscreen for ease-of-use.  A Wi-Fi Hotspot is standard on most trim levels and allows up to eight devices to connect with internet access.  Some trim levels also have a 10-way power driver's seat, all-weather package with heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control.  The luxury Touring trim has ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel for all-weather comfort.  A hands-free rear gate with height memory function and lock switch is standard or available on most trim levels.  This allows easy access to the ample cargo space.  The Outback offers 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, but that goes up to 75.7 cubic feet of volume when you fold down the rear seating.
