Strands For Hope

We’re excited to share that Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan has been chosen as one of the charities of choice by Thelen Subaru, and we couldn’t be prouder to support such a meaningful cause! As part of our efforts, several of us here at the dealership are in the process of growing out our (already lovely) locks for a cut-a-thon that will take place once we’ve reached the magical length needed for donation. That’s right — it’s time to let it grow, let it flow, and give it a purpose!

If you haven’t heard of Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan, let us introduce you to this incredible organization. They’re a local grassroots nonprofit that provides custom-fitted, age-appropriate wigs — at no charge — to kids and teens across Michigan experiencing hair loss due to cancer, alopecia, burns, and other medical conditions. These kids, known as “Ambassadors,” range in age from 3 to 18, and each wig is specially styled to help them feel confident and cared for.

Hair loss can take an emotional toll on young people, which is why Maggie’s goes beyond just providing wigs. Located in St. Clair Shores, their Wellness Center and Salon also offers medical, educational, and emotional support services to families — again, all at no cost. It’s a place full of heart, healing, and hope, and we’re honored to play even a small part in helping make these services possible.

In the spirit of giving back, we’re letting our hair down (or up in a bun... we’re working with what we’ve got!) and putting away the clippers for a while. Once our hair hits donation length, the scissors will come out for an epic cut-a-thon to benefit Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids. We promise there are some pretty impressive locks taking shape!

This is more than just a haircut. It’s a way for us to use what we’ve got — literally — to bring confidence and joy to kids who deserve to feel like their best selves.
